IE5 problem

By steeleshane ·
Recently IE5.5 started giving me problems. 2-3 times a day I have to run repair to allow me to use IE5. Has anyone seen this before? I have run my virus program and have no viruses found. I recently changed from a 56k modem to a cable modem. I can still check my mail using Outlook Express. HELP!!

When you go to a Cable Modem, then you run the Internet Wizard again to setup your computer for a LAN, since you no a longer have to use a dail-up modem, and also go to Tools, and check out your Internet Options to be sure that you close out your dail-up options and change it to your LAN, for a cable modem, give it a try and let me know it works for you. You're not the only one having problems!

For the past two days I have had one crash after another with IE 5.5 sp1.

It has crashed over 10 times a DAY and I am seriously considering reinstalling an older version until Microsoft can figure out what is going on.

Mu configuration is as follows;

Athlon 1gig Thunderbird
Abit KT7 motherbird
256 MB memory
Creative Labs Live MP3+5.1 sound card
Creative Labs Geforce 32 MB video card
Creative Labs 12X DVD
Linksys 10/100 Network card (2)Windows 2000 Professional

I've been running 2000 for 6 months without any problems and the only thing "different" is the service pack I applied last week to IE 5.5.

Process of elimination... definete possibility of a BUGGY Service Pack.

Good Luck everyone.
