The Conrol panel applet for the 16 bit or 32 bit interface is being loaded

Check your video card to make sure that it is using 32 bit drivers or update the latest drivers for the video card

The other option would be to reinstall Windows 98

I sugges you boot to DOS mode.
Delete your W95INF32.DLL and W95INF16.DLL files from /WINDOWS/SYSTEM/.

If you still get the same error or another stating that one of the above files are not found, then I suggest extracting the dll in question from the Win98 CD.

Tommy, make sure you have all files of your previous IE 4;5;5.1;5.51(which one you had installed before) deleted. Then stop all visible and invisible (background) programmes and re-install IE6. The re-activate the stopped programmes and it will most probably work fine.
If you have WinZip installed, it may be that you have to UnInstall it before installing IE6 and re-install it afterwards. Should not be a big problem. Good luck.
