IIS and SMTP

By jwoller ·
We recently made some major changes in our network. We implemented Exchange 5.5 sp3 and removed our old NT mail system. This week we moved our intranet from a NT 4 server running IIS 4.0 to a Win 2k box running IIS 5.0. We are having issues with SMTP service running on this new server. I configured the SMTP properties on the IIS server to use Smart host and pointed it to our FQDN of the Exchange server. Now when people visit the site and fill out web based asp forms and hit send they just sit in the message que until they are moved to bad mail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Not sure if this will help. Have you checked your authentication settings. You will find it on your SMTP Properties on the Delivery Tab under Outbound Security. Ensure that the settings here match your Exchange server settings.

After about 6hrs on Sunday afternoon of changing configurations, stopping and restarting services and double checking settings I reinstalled the smtp service on the IIS box. To my surprise everything started to work! Thanks, For the reply
