In Win7 why when I right click in the file explorer or on a desktop icon does the explorer shutdown?
It restarts, but the inability to right click limits my capability. This has been a year long issue.

try safe mode

does the issue also exist in safe mode?

if the explorer doesn't crash in safe mode, then the problem is likely something you installed on the computer, like trial ware.

incidentally, when was the last time you tuned up the compute? by tuning up, i mean running a check disk and defrag.

by Jim-WV In reply to In Win7 why when I right ...

I had a machine doing something similar. One of the older Adobe suites had placed something in the context menu that was causing problems with explorer. I used ShellExView to disable to the context menu items until I tracked down which one was the problem.
