install a printer on a remote machine ?

By NatCat ·
I'm trying to install a printer at a remoter site without going to the site.
After logging on as a domain admin I surfer to the machine and ran the "add a printer" without problem till I got the final step where the drivers are installed. I got an error message stating that I wasn't allowed to install a printer.

Is there something I'm doing wrong or perhaps another way to do this ?

Even though you're logged in as a "domain admin" you're not a part of the machine's "Group" that you're trying to install the printer. Without being part of the "Group" you won't be able to do the installation. If you know the user's password of the system then just login as that person and do the installation. Make note: Groups are totally different than "Users", even when it comes to domains. My system is on a domain and the only person that has control to do installations, by default, is myself. Until another "Group" is added, even administrator, domain admins only have access to my system. Making changes is a different horse.

You have to be part of the system's group. Meaning, go to the system in question and add the group that you want.

Does this mean that even if I EXPLICITLY join the domain admins or the administrator for the domain, to the administrative group on the machine that I still won't be able to install a printer ?!
Can you explain what you mean that "

Even though you're logged in as a "domain admin" you're not a part of the machine's "Group" that you're trying to install the printer"
