When installing two differnt drivers for the same printer is it better to create a separate printer port for this driver? Any links would be great.

Why do you need two drivers for one printer? Just install the one for Win 2000 also the latest. It will help if you click LP1 or USB connection.

Why should you create different port ? It always the same printer, connected in the same way, lpt, usb or jetdirect, you don't have to create new (and same) port.
Create New printer, choose you driver, give different name (pcl vs ps, for example), and you'll have 2 distinct printers, on the same port, with different driver.
