install redhat linux 9 in toshiba device

I installed Redhat linux 9 on a toshiba 490CDT device (PC) but he can't detect the sound card.
I want to know what to do?

Have a look at www.alsa-project.org, there you should find instructions on how to get different sound devices running under Linux. I don't know exactly what soundcard your laptop has, but my guess its a cs42xx of some sort. It's a common soundcard in laptops.

which version of linux u r using for this system. pls let me know and what is the kernel version.

Did you try sndconfig? It work with must PnP devices. There is no quarantee that the values entered don not conflict with an existing non-PnP or PnP device. You must make sure these types of conflicts do not occur.
