Installing NIC in NT 4.0

By k_grg ·
I get the following error message when trying to install NIC in NT 4.0 Workstation.

"Network card is not present at the system."

I have tried atleast 3 different card, and all in different PCI slots, but no luck.

Any Help?

Installing NIC in NT 4.0

Hi!

This might be a classic for NT4, first of all get the latest drivers for your NIC, install them.

After NIC installation finished reinstall your current Service Pack and the error should dissapear.

I recently ran into this problem. What I did was install Service Pack and install the latest driver for NIC. It works then.

Hope it helps!

One importatnt note: Once you get the latest drivers and copy them to floppy. Don't have NT find the NIC. Select HAVE DISK and pick the driver from A. After completing the install reapply the Service Pack
