integrated Sound compatibility

By cafemarg ·
I have installed an Intel MoBo D845GBV,with a P4 1.7ghz CPU.When I tried to activate the sound driver, supplied on CD by Intel, I was given a message that my OS (Win 98 first ver.)was NOT supported by the driver software. Is there any solution short of buying a new OS or third party sound card. Thank you for considering my problem.

That is I believe the Soundmax Cadenza sound card onboard that MB. You can get a download for Win 95/98 drivers from here:

http://www2.driverguide.com/uploads/uploads9/7137.html

Remove any spaces for the URL to work.

If you are prompted fora username and password - username: drivers
password: all

Good luck!

The driver CD included with most hardware can be over 1 year old.

The latest W98 audio driver on Intel's site is:

Integrated Audio: ADI Cadenza 5.12.01.3516 18.1MB 23 Sept 2002

Based on my experiences with Intel motherboards, I would also check for a BIOS update.
Intel can be very prolific with BIOS updates, and they usually fix a variety of problems.
