Internet explorer 5

By shahm ·
I have a computer that can browse every web site there is except when I try to check my MSN website. It is giving me the message
'Your Web browser options are currently set to disable cookies. To use .NET Passport, you must enable cookies'
Yet inmy internet options my cookies are infact enabled. I tried them on the lowest level and the highest security setting. in all zones. I also installed internet explorer 5.5 service pack 2 and when that did not work i tried IE6.0 service pack 1. Still nothing. I also install all of the latest updates and service packs and still I have not had any luck. Even checked the bios time and some registry setting. Can someone please help.

Open the browser and click the Help menu, check to see if you have 128-bit encryption,if not then you will need to download from Windows Update, then proceed to set the security settings to Deafault or Medium, reboot computer.

It is internet explorer 5.5 service pack two. It is already 128 bit encryption, by default. Thanks though.

Dumb question: Are you behind a firewall that is possibly filtering the site?

No, no firewall. It is wierd, It can browse all of MSN accept the hotmail site. I got around the problem though. I installed Netscape and it works just fine.

The Answer is after a set time the MSN site blocks all sites that you try to access directly from MSN, its a security issue and prevents you leaving your account open, and not accepting cookies, The work arround is to cut and paste the web address directly into a seperate IE5 window, it also means you can switch between your mail and the web site,
