Internet Explorer 5 - Return to Home Pag

By colin1 ·
I have developed an Intranet Web Site for my Company and am going to setup a PC in our foyer so guests waiting at reception can look at the company history & information while waiting.

The question I need answering is, if a page is stationary fora certain lenght of time (eg. the person has left for their appointment and left a page displayed) can Internet Explorer be configured to return to the Home Page so the next guest will start from the beginning. This may need for the HTML code to be changed

Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I'm aware, Explorer doesn't provide this facility.

If you're only going to access your own intranet pages from this machine, one way you could do it would be to include a couple of lines of script at the end of each page to go to the home page after the "certain length of time".

1) Set your Internet explorer's default home page to your company's intranet home page.
TOOLS-->Internet OPTIONS-->GENERAL-->and setup hope page.
2)Creat conditional macro by recording key stroke that if webpage or system remain ideal for XMin, run recorded key stroke which is Alt+Home. This will take you back to your company's Intranet home page. Now a days you can find freeware macro crater software on Internet. So download one of them and give it try

Use the meta tag "Refresh". See the example below from one of my Web sites.

<meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="15; URL=http://www.emprisegroup.net/netwel/home.htm">

In this example, 'content' is the time in seconds, and 'URL' is the page to go to.

This question already appears to have been answered and from what i could tell the answer is the same as what i'm going to give you use the meta tag on all your intranet pages <pre>"<META http-equiv="refresh" content="3,http://www.acme.com/intro.html">"</pre>. This example is straight from the w3 home page. This code could be part of an included page for all your web that way if it is required to change the default time for return to your home page, it would only have to be done once.

Here's the code everyone else was trying to post here...
<br><br><pre>
<META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" content="10; url=http://www.your homepage here.com">
</pre><br>
Include this in the <HEAD> section of every single page on your intranet.<br> Thenumber (10) is the number of seconds before you're returned to your home page.
