Internet Explorer window defaults

By Dawgs ·
I am not sure how it happened but when you click the iconto open the Internet Explorer 6 window it defaults to the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. The only options I have are either open or minimize to the taskbar. I do not know how it was set to this. How do I undo this? I want to be able to make the windows small so I can size windows to tile. Not an option right now. Please help! I have Windows XP Pro. and this did not start happening until about a month ago. I have had XP on my system since it came out. All my security patches and updates are current.

To achieve what you want, you need to set the windows to Open, rather than minimise to task bar, then once you go into IE you change the size of the screen, and close it. Next time you go back in, it should open up at the size you changed it too a moment ago.

Go to start >settings >control pannel. In the control pannel box double click on Add/Remove Programs, scroll down until you see "Microsoft Internet Explorer 6SP1 and internet tools"double click on it and you will get an IE tool box option to either repair or restore Internet Explorer. Highlight repair Internet Explorer, and click OK I hope this solves your problem.

I solved it! In order to get this window to restore I was trying different things again. What happened was when the window was at the taskbar I right clicked it again. This time when i clicked size a 2 sided arrow came up on the desktop. So I pressed the left mouse button and started to drag it. The window started to appear. Now I have everything back to normal! thank You to everyone for your input.
