internet security

By jamiehall346 ·
hi,

I work for a theatre in Branson Mo. I have just set up internet connection sharing. How can I set up a password for each person to access the inter net. We do not want just anyone on there. I am working with a nt server. The connection sharing is not the server but a seperate computer. Also how can i monitor the usage of the internet. We want our employees to do business not personal stuff on the web

any help would be greatly appreciated

thank,
jamie

You would need to provide further information about this setup. What type of internet connection do you have, Does the NT server have two NICs in it or is this dial up only? Please e-mail my company at support@meganetcomputers.com and I can try to further help you out.

I use an inexpensive firepall/proxy product from Kerio (was tiny software) called winroutepro. You can download a 30-day evaluation or read their documentation at http://www.kerio.com/us/wrp_home.html.

The software allows you to setup access groups and require users to authenticate when they connect to the internet. For convenience, you can have winroutepro check the user's password with the domain controller. You can turn on logging and generate a listing of sites visited with usernames and times.

You should publish an "acceptable use policy" which specifies what is allowed/disallowed before you start a monitoring program. Then users have no excuse when you take punitive action. Work with your personnel office or general manager on this policy.
