Is Android an overrated OS

Compared to other mobile OS's in the market, does Android fall short in providing the results as promised? The stability,security and bug issues of Android are a serious concern.

Is it overrated? I don't know. Do people rate it unreasonably highly? How would one determine this?

Does it fall short in promised functionality? All OSes do. Does Android need some further development, especially regarding some security issues? Definitely. It is up to individual vendors, however, to implement new source code and patch any of the problems they have created in their OEM versions.
