Is it possible to close Outlook 97 from

By jprenaud ·
I'm trying to backup Outlook 97 *.pst files. The users leave Outlook 97 open and I can't copy the files if they're open. Is there a way to close Outlook 97 via a batch file, or some other method?

Nope. Unless you have a utility that is called from the batchfile to close the application, batch files don't communicate with the Windows messaging system. You may want to write a little windows utility that posts a quit message to all applications. Then stick that utility in the batch file and that may work. Just a thought.

If you need help writing the utility, reply back. But I would first check the Internet for such a utility if it exists...

I beleive you can still back up a copy of the file *.pst if you crated a batch file to make a copy first locally, then send it to the desired location. ALT+F4 will close the application in focus and I am not sure how to write that out in a batch file.

Hope this helps!
