Is there a way?

By JoePlaisted ·
Hello,
Is there a way in MSAccess to enter a partial name of a project and have a query return all project that have anything with that partial name. (ie if on the form that relates to the query I enter PRA the query would return PRATER WAY APARTMENT and PRAYER ROOMS and PRAT HOMES since all three begin with "PRA") Right now my queries will only return full name entered. If you use the data function in Excel, you are able to enter partail names and anything with the partial spelling is returned.

Thank in advance for you help

Don't have much experience with Access, but don't overlook the obvious even if it is often a waste. Check the help file for "autofill" and see if that will lead you in the right direction. You may have to sift through some unrelated stuff to find a way, but it's worth a shot.

One way to do this would be to add the following to the criteria of the 'project' field in your query.

Like [Enter A few letters] & "*"

Enter P and all projects starting with P's are returned. Enter Pr and all projects starting with Pr's are returned. Enter pra and pra's are returned.

Hope this helps. Rich
