Have WIN ME. PC started acting strange. Hit ctl-alt-del and there was a program running called
JAVARUN. Don't know how it got there but is it needed and if not can I simply delete it?

Hi,

Its likely that you (or someone else) has installed Javarun.

Thake a look at the following site for a small description - the real site is down pending version 2.0 being released.

http://www.freewarehome.com/System_Utilities/File_Management/Windows_Explorer_p.html

(remove spaces from the above URL)

It looks safe enough. And it looks like you should be able to uninstall it without any problems too. If you develop java apps it looks useful, though.

Cheers,
Tim.

I'm guessing javarun is the Java Runtime Environment. If you accessed a webpage that had an applet, JRE would have started. Often times the process doesn't die with the browser that started it. Otherwise, you might have a Java application running, but you would probably know if you did. There's no problem with shutting it down from the task manager screen. If something is running that requires it, you might get an error, but nothing fatal.

Good luck.
