Keyboard lights flashing

-Win98
-client unsure of action that caused symtoms to begin
-symptom: num lock, caps lock, scoll lock all begin flashing in unison at post screen. A second, known good kbd exibits same behavior. Suspect a bad mobo, buthadn't seen these symptoms before. Ideas?

This may be a wild goose chase, but check the PC health section of BIOS settings for any alert options other than the alarm tone.

While your at it, make sure that the CPU fan and CPU core voltage are correct.

When you find nothing there, try aUSB keyboard.

If the symptom goes away, then the PS/2 port likely has been damaged.

The most common method of damage to a PS/2 port is from hot plugging the mouse or keyboard.
The PS/2 port can be blown from hot plugging.

This could be an error message.
Check the documentation and the manufacturers web site for explanation. The flashing keyboard LED's may also be associated with long or short beeps on POST, the power LED and the hard drive LED. Different colors and steady/flashing idicate error conditions.
