Keyboard not responding during CD Boot

By Infernal Acolyte ·
I'm trying to do a clean format on my PC but during the event I've encountered an issue regarding my keyboard.

I've already setup the CPU to boot on the CD. It did successfully however when the "Press any key to boot from CD" appears, my keyboard doesn't respond whatever key I press.

Is this a BIOS issue, my last approach would be resetting the BIOS. Is there any workaround out there?

I'll appreciate any help.

See if this will help

If it is PS2 and it is not working when you try a known good keyboard it is probably the PS2 port on the motherboard that is at fault. Try using a USB keyboard.

You could check the BIOS settings: Switch on USB keyboard and mouse support if it isn't enabled.

Tried that approach

and unfortunately it isn't solving the issue. I've used both a good PS2 and USB keyboard and it didn't solved the issue.

My last resort would be updating the BIOS. Its my first time doing this so please cross your fingers... ^_^

Puzzling

by Infernal Acolyte In reply to Keyboard not responding d ...

I'm quite baffled on why the BIOS was corrupted. I've reformatted the said PC before and I don't have any problems on the keyboard.

Anyone has an idea on why the BIOS can be corrupted? Can it be done by a virus?
