Keyboard problem

By parvus1202 ·
When I was using Win ME my keyboard works fine, after installing Win 2000 Pro my keyboard became my next trouble. The letters and numbers works fine but the symbols like : , ) /?>< , are all mixed up! Is there a way to fix this??

Greetings,

Go to Control Panel - System - System Properties - Device Manager - Keyboard. Highlight the keyboard, and view the keyboard properties. Check to make sure it's listing your keyboard. If everything appears to be ok, you could simply remove the keyboard and reboot your system. Windows will then detect that keyboard when you reboot, and install the necessary drivers. If you have something other than a standard 101 keyboard, a Microsoft Internet Keyboard, for example, use the disk or CD that came with it.

Good luck,

Maxwell

I might try a couple things. It sounds like you may have a more indepth keyboard than the normal run of the mill keyboards.
You may want to make sure that you have service pack 2 installed on Windows 2000. After installing that service pack, go into the control panel, system, hightlite the keyboard, then click properties. It will tell you weather the device is working properly or not. There will also be a button to click for "updating the drivers". A lot of drivers won't work with windows 2000,therefore it's best to go to the manufacturer's web site and download the latest drivers for windows 2000. If they don't have windows 2000 drivers, don't fret, you might be able to uninstall the keyboard, by deleting it out of the device manager andreboot the system. Now that you have sp2, the OS may install the correct drivers for your keyboard.....Good luck......REF

Check that you have the correct language selected for your keyboard. Do this via Control Panel, Keyboard, Language. Click on add and select the language you need.
