when I am typing the letters come out all wrong

In the keyboard setings in the control panel make shure you have the language set to the correct language for the type of keyboard. An example would be English(US) for an English(US) keyboard. Other then that you might have a bad keyboard.

You didn't specify what type of computer you have. If it is a laptop make sure the numlock is not on.

Has anything happened to your keyboard recently? If the keyboard is, as has been suggested, set to the correct layout (such as English US), it may be that something spilled onto it. You could try cleaning it, or get a new one. They can cost as little as $10 for a new one.
