By guldan ·
Im currently using win2k on our server and we have all win98 machines on the network as clients.
my problem is when do data sync with our contact manager program(telemagic) I get a error message saying that the lanman redirector has failed and thati should try to save it somewher else. it has also said something about delayed write failure.

I have plenty of memory of every type, network traffic is minimal.

There should be an error code associated with that particular error message. Depending on the code, the cause could be any number of things.

Perhaps these links will help you determine the cause:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q267934

http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBG/TIP3100/rh3136.htm

(The following is for NT 4.0, but the codes should be similar.)

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q186/5/46.asp

(REMOVE SPACES from the pasted URLs.)

(If the above links don't help, send me an email with the exact error message and error code.)

Here's the error message
title is windows=delayed write failed

windows was unable to save all the data for the file \device\lanmanredirector\phx1\tm\outbox\tminisfs.can. the data has been lost. this error may be caused bya failure of your computer hardware or network connection.

there is also a visual foxpro error

there is a event
event id-50
source Mr.xSmb
type warning

{Lost Delayed-Write Data} The system was attempting to transfer file data from buffers to \Device\LanmanRedirector.

I've checked the pagefile size and its never reached 75% of the alloted amount(I have two pagefiles the largest is on the faster of the two drives.
I also increased the files setting in the config.nt file
and rebooted the server. Ran the data sync and got the same mesage. the error occurs when dss(data sync server)is packing the syncpacket to send to the sattelite site. the file it was trying to make is about 6 megs it would have ended up being about 9 megs
I hope this helps some.
