Laptop Backup

By jhartmetz ·
Can anyone recommend a laptop backup solution for users who rarely connect to the company network? We prefer to not deply portable drives (i.e. thumb drives). We were thinking about doing backups to a FTP server. Thanks.

VPN

Set up a VPN server and have the users connect via the VPN to the network. Then you can control the backup similar to how you would on your LAN (much slower of course). But this way you would have security with the traffic encrypted. If your company is looking to save money (which one isn't) you can simply script an NTBackup job and have them run the script on a schedule when they're connected to the VPN.

I'm not sure if this will help but we use Druvva. They have a pretty good video that demonstrates their process for laptop backups.
