Laptop problems

By boss_9877 ·
Last week I had a service call for a replacement laptop to be installed at a agents office. Model is a Ibm Thinkpad 600. The original problem with the old laptop was that the mouse cursor would automatically slide across the screen on its own. Soour department sent out another laptop to be installed and when I went to do a shell swap keeping the old hard drive with all information on it and put it into the new shell or laptop the original problem with the mouse went away but that created a new problem because the Scroll lock, number lock, and cap lock lights on the exterior keyboard kept blinking on and off consistently. The agent uses a docking station for laptop also. I attached a different keyboard to the docking station just to check the keyboards and the light still were blinking. So I then forced the dockable to shutdown and restart and went into the config to try to reinitialize the system well that also did not correct the problem. If anyone has any ideas please drop me a line. Thanks

Boss,

There are updated drivers for the track point/mouse, etc. at:

http://www.pc.ibm.com/qtechinfo/DSHY-3TLQ2L.html?lang=en_US&brand=root&doctype=&subtype=Cat

or goto http://www.pc.ibm.com/support
and enter your machine model-type for themachine(s) your having problems with. You will probably find solutions there. Also download and run the diagnostics to rule out hardware.

Hope this helps!
David

I have seen the problem before when the motherboard is faulty. Perhaps you have a loose zif socket that the keyboard and mouse plugs into. and when you swapped the shell you created a diff problem even though everything looks alright.
