Laptop Switching from Work to Home & Bak

By GCM-III ·
What's the best way to setup a Win2K Laptop to login to both a work NT4 Network domain account and then a Home peer-to-peer Work Group account daily? I can do it but there's a lot of changing of WINs, DNS, and DHCP to static IP. I've heard that maybe using two hardware profiles might be the answer but I'm unfamiliar with that technique.

Anyone have a suggestion that would make this daily problem simpler?

Also I've posted questions like this before but have mixed success in finding theanswers again. So, if you would, please cut and paste your answer into an email message to chet-george@bigfoot.com. TIA Chet

You can create hardware profile by: r-klik my computer, properties, hardware, hardware profiles.
Copy the original hardware profile.
Rename them to something meaningfull ea home and work.
and configure the appropiately with their settings.

Leopold

How 'bout using 2 NICs? One NIC for DHCP on the Domain, the other with static configs for the peer2peer. You just plug the cable into the appropriate NIC, depending on your location.

I strongly recommend that you try a product I found for little cost. It is a "MultiNetwork Manager" and can be downloaded from http://www.globesoft.com/Common/frm_products.html
It has worked real well on our laptop.
