Linking 2 Modems together

By eraser3498 ·
I was wondering if it is possible to link two or more modems together so they work as one achieving a higher kbps rate. If so what software would I need to make this happen.

Yes, this was used for a short time, before ISDN.
The problem is your ISP will charge you for each MODEM as a separate account, so the economics suck. It gets worse. You also have to have a separate phone line for each MODEM, and your friendly local phone company is going to charge you for each line. (Usually with no discount.)
Now it still gets worse. The MODEMs, such as the Diamond Shotgun, are not compatible with USR in this application.
Are you getting the picture why this setup died out. (I mean, went extinct.)
Are you sure you want to do this?
Regards, Chris

If you are interested in connecting to the Internet I agree with answer #1.

However if you want to connect a remote user to an office or someother private connection then you can connect two modems, but you will need two phone lines.
