Linksys Network Card Conflicts

By Zharia ·
My Linksys card has a conflict in device manager and Im unable to connect to an NT Network. All my protocols are correct, the card is fine, Ive moved it to a new slot. The error says "Device Failure: Try reinstalling the drivers". I have done this but the conflict is still there. Nothing else in Device Manager has a conflict. In the section of "Other Devices" it says PCI Contoller and PCI Bridge.

Linksys cards require you to set up the IRQ, I/O range and cable type in a DOS based setup program. If you don't have there setup disk got to:

Also a standard NE2000 compatible driver should be compatible with your Lynksys card.

First you need to set up the IDE controller drivers for Windows (you have 95). That is where the PCI Controller and PCI Bridge are coming from. The CD should come with the motherboard. Second, sometimes 95 tries to install it's own drivers for the Linksys card, since it typically incorrectly identifies the card. Fix the Other Devices first, then for the NIC, you need to update the drivers, and use the floppy provided with the card. Linksys cards typically like to use IRQ 11.

Try deleting the "other devices", click it then click remove.

Then you try removing the device (nic card). And since the driver is already loaded, you can just restart the system, reboot. It should detect the nic card.

If the conflict happens again, try change the irq setting. double click linksys, change irq setting, use must use irq setting not used by other devices.....remember to remove the "other divices" bec you can never make it work unless this thing is removed.
