Ill have to check, but the CD versions all had an option to go into text mode. I know for a fact, that if the mem is very low or if the video car is pretty weak, RH will just drop into text mode anyway.

The spot I am thinking about is at the LILO prompt it asks for expert, upgrade, etc, etc, there *Should* be an otpion for text only mode (Slackware style almost). I have used the text mode on an ol box with RH 7.1 (p166 16 mb ram, 2MB video) and it was pretty easy and smooth.

If installing from a bootable CD, insert the CD. The "Welcome to Linux" screen will appear and the "boot:" prompt will be at the bottom of the screen. Type "text" at the boot prompt and press <Enter>. Some links about Linux text based installation are below. *Strongly* recommend you READ THROUGH the full installation guide first.
