Linux and Novell work together fine. There are many opensource utl that make this more user friendly to those that are't up on Linux as there Primary OS as well as vice versus. Caldera Openlinux has very good tools that come with the distro

Linux and NetWare can co-exist quite well on the same network.
Mars-nwe comes with a lot of Linux distribtuions, but it is primarily for NW 3.x, and bindery connections.
For NetWare 4.11/5, do a search for
nwclient+utils-4.2.1-8.i386.rpm.
Thistool will allow Linux access to file servers and print services offered by NetWare
