LLHB.exe failure to load in Compaq Presa

By modmedic ·
I have recently upgraded my hard drive in my Compaq Presario 4770. I installed a Western Digital 10.2 gigabyte drive. I used Western Digital's utility software to tell the BIOS to recognize a drive larger than 8 gigabytes. I also used the same utility to copy the contents of the old drive onto the new one. I now get an error message when windows 95 is loading. LLhb.exe has failed to load. I believe that this is Compaq's homebase. Once I strike any key to continue it goes away and everything loads fine. Is there any way to stop this error from occurring?

You did not mention if it fails to load because it's not found, or it simply won't run in your new configuration.
Search for the file on your hard drive. Also search for it in your autoexec.bat, system.ini and registers, using regedit>find>llhb.exe. If the file exists on your drive, aand the path is incorrect, modify the path to point to it, if the path is correct, remove the reference to llhb.exe

answer no. 1 may help provided that you don't need to run this utility, and in addition you may want to check the win.ini and control.ini for reference to llbh.exe to find where it is being called from. if the file (llbh.exe) was loaded when you used the copy utility it may not have been copied or copied incompletely in which case you may be able to copy it of to a floppy or disk to disk and install it into the proper place on the new drive. if the file was loaded at the time the copy was done you may have to do this from a prompt to get a proper write of llbh.exe

Cause
There may be a missing file that helps to run LLhb.exe or maybe the file is already
corrupted when you upgrade your hardisk.

Solutions
1.First check out your windows registry if this LLhb.exe starts when you starts your windows.

Steps: Click Start -> Run -> Regedit
Look for find
Then search type start
Try browsing and Pressing F3 for next.
If you find that word LLhb.exe del the key.
Warning! Please don't del any key if you are uncertain with it. It may maker your windows stop running.

2. Then other way is Run sysedit.
Then scroll around look for that work LLhb.exe the remove the word or line.

This is a hard drive overlay program and in a way it acts as a boot virus. I have used these programs and I do agree that you need to check system.ini and win.ini for the file and I also agree that you should run sysedit and search for the key file and delete it.
I hope this helps you. Good Luck! Also check your config.sys and autoexec.bat file under DOS.
