llinux server and windows nt

By evelint ·
I have Linux Apache server that is supposed to be accessed by my programers through windows nt workstation so they may work with html pages and java applets. I also have a Linux main server and a windows DHCP server that is also our DNS server. My apache test page is working find, I am also able to ping my Ip address but the server is still not accesible, the message I get is NETWORK PATH NOT FOUND. What do I need to do in order to get it to work properly. Thankyou

I have a RedHat server running Apache in a Windows NT domain. When I first brought it up, I could get to the website using the IP address, but not with the machine name. The fix in my case was to manually add an entry to the DNS table with the RedHat box's machine name and IP address. Hope this helps.

Sounds like it could be a few things. Try accessing the server by ip address and not hostname. HTTP://1.1.1.1/***. If that works, make sure the system is defined correctly in the DNS and the clients are using the DNS correctly. Try adding the system to the hosts file on the clients. Double check the httpd.conf file to make sure your system is defined correctly.
