Loadwc.exe error in Windows 95

By allgwg7435 ·
I had a crash and after reloading Windows 95 I got a Loadwc.exe error. Loadwc.exe is linked to a missing export SHLWAPI.dll wnsprintfa. Any suggestions as how to get round this problem. The system appears to be working fine apart from this anoying message at start up.

This problem has to do with Internet Explorer. If you're running IE5 you can use the repair tool to try to fix the problem. If IE4, re-install Win95 on top of your current installation to overwrite the damaged files. Or you can try to extract thesefiles from CD but this is a lengthy procedure in Win95.

I agree with the above, that it's an IE error, btu what I would first do is remove the entry for loadwc for the run entry in the registry (you can use poledit to do this) and then reinstall IE. If that didn't work I would manually uninstall IE and then reinstall it. The article on how to manually uninstall it is Article ID: Q175610 at support.microsoft.com
