Logon Scripts

By 1st508th ·
I recently installed Norton AntiVirus Corp Edition to my PDC. I was running a logon script that also pointed to a scr file to display a company warning message. With Norton there is a vplogon.bat that keeps my users updated on their virus definitions. Although the virus definitions are more
important, can I use two logon scripts? or do I have to use one or the other? I am
new writing logon scripts and tried to incorporate the original into the new, but with no success. If someone can help or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

You could just add a line to the end of your logon script

vplogon.bat

After your script finishes, it will run the other bat file.

If you put it anywhere but at the end of your logon script, you have to use

call vplogon.bat

otherwise, when it branches out to run vplogon, it won't return and finish your script file.

Using "call" insures it will return after vplogon is finished.

You just need to call that logon script for a couple of weeks. vplogon.bat only launches the install. When a client installed installed, the client is also configured to work w/ the NAV server on it's own. No more need for scripts to update your clients. The NAV server will update all the clients w/ virus signatures and program updates. You configure this frequencey in the SSC.

I had tried this about a week ago on two of my co-workers and had noticed they did receive the updates, after I put the original logon script back into their profile, but wasn't sure if it would work for the whole domain or what issues it would cause. I tried it after reading this answer and it does work fine. Thank you for the help
