Losing WINS network settings on PCs

By rbizaillion ·
Recently six PCs on one subnet and one server on another subnet have actually lost their settings for the primary and secondary WINS servers. Both are at remote subnets from the WINS servers. I am certain noone has logged onto these machines and changed the settings. Anyone heard of this before?

I'll assume these clients are 95/98. I have seen this and it may continue to happen, but removing TCP/IP and re-adding it may stop it from happening again. I suggest using DHCp to serve this information. Its more reliable.

Reinstalling TCP/IP should fix it. However you can use a LMHOST file also.

If you use policies, you can set the WINS servers that way.
