Lotus Notes Question

By pcammuso ·
Is there a way in Lotus to open an email, and once it has been opened, send a message to another user, (not necessarily the sender)
that it has been opened. We have 2 users who are in a specific group, so each one gets the same email, when one of them opens it, the other wants to know about it.

Thanks

Paul

Paul,
I guess you could set-up a local agent on each users database.
Are you running R5? if so take a look under the Help for agents, they are quite nifty little things.
However it would still rely on the second user checking for new mail, beforeopening the note.
Could you not set-up a user as per the same name as the group then delete the group, users would e-mail the new user name, arther than the group. Add the new in-box/database to each readers workspace and instruct them, to keep actioning the messages, setting a weekly rota with an escalation period of say 2hours, before the other reader actions the note, should the designated reader be away or off?
Just an idea
Allen

Lotus Notes Question

Paul,
Mmmmm NO comments on any of my suggestions, all this work and for only a 100 points !!!
OK then, last suggestion.
As you provide very little information about the Release and current set-up, I'll make the assumption the users are out of Verbal contact.
Either Setup a User name to replace the the group name, so user e-mail the user. Set-up the database on each users Workspace, set-up folders within the Database as action folders, ie. to do, completed etc.
The the 1st reader upon receipt of the e-mail moves the notes to the to do folder for further actioning, whilst the other user refreshes thier screen.
OR:- leave the current group and then Set-up an agent on each user to use a bespoke template to 'copy' part of the received mail plus other comments to the second user.
Good luck and some feedback would be nice!
Allen
