Mail Stays in Outbox when Using Multiple

By colin1 ·
Some of my users have 2 accounts setup un MS Outlook. 1 account is for when they are in the office (On the lan)and the other is when they are travelling and use an ISP to send their e-mails.

The problem is when the are going thru the ISP they canreceie but outgoing mails sits in the Outbox.

This has happened to a number of users.

Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this problem.

Check Tools, Options, Send Tab and make sure send messages immediately is turned on. When your on an Exchange server locally, your inbox is on the server and Exchange's message transfer agent does this for your.

When you us smtp that folder is local and the above option controls message sending.
If it is tuned off, you have to hit the send button

Checking for new POP3 inbound messages happens based on settings under tools, options, general tab under send/receive messages box settings.

Good Luck,

I beleive your problem lies within the Exchange Server configuration. I experienced this same problem about two months ago and this is what I did to fix it.

1. Make sure the "From Any Host" is selected in the "Accept Connections" part of the Connections tab. You will find the "Connections" tab in the Properties page of the Internet Mail Service.

2. Make sure "Reroute Incoming SMTP mail (required for POP 3 support) is selected under the "Routing" tab of the Properties page of the InternetMail Service.

Good luck and I hope this has helped.

When you have two services that both support smtp, you need to tell Outlook which service to use to send the mail. this is done via Tools/Services/Delivery.

The second option in the tab gives the order in which mail is processed. When the user ison the road, the internet mail service should be at the top. when in the office, move it to the bottom.

I would simply setup 2 Outlook profiles on the syste. One for network use and one for remote. In OL's options have it prompt for a profile to be used when opening OL.

Hope this helps.
