Mainframe to PC conversion software

By garry.lowery ·
I am looking for a Low cost solution to eliminate fiche, I can probably spend no more than a few thousand dollars,I want to convert EBCDIC or ASCII line data reports to PDF, including any bursting into individual PDF files , for subsequent burning on CD. I already have a mechanism to transfer files from the mainframe to a windows based server, TCPIP.

Mainframe to PC conversion software

As much as I am a fan of PDFs, I don't see much of a point in all that work for ASCII files - why not leave them in a plain text file or convert them to a simply formatted file? PDFs will take up a lot more space and if the text isn't formatted, won't give you much more advantage.

You can write VB scripts to interact with the Adobe PDF writer.

if you are working in windows platform u need not spend any dollar etc. Use ADO and read your data in Mainframe physical/logical files using sql [Use MSDataShape for multilevel records, ADOMD for Multidimension reports]. If you have full Adobe writer software, in VB or VBScript create a new document of pdf and write the returned recordset data. This will work if you have Adobe writer license.
