Many Bad sectors on a hard disk.

By jahangeer_m ·
I am using A western digital hard disk. It detects correctly in bios but When I try to fdisk. It starts again and again from 0 percent.

2. When I try to low level format. It gives error on almost half of sectors. Is there a way to make it usable.

Thanks

**Most of this question is contradictory and confused. Things just don't line up to be useful for a diagnosis other than hire a professional, but we love to make people smile, so ...

Get MaxBlast from Western Digital, use it to diagnose, and possibly it will - fix it and complete a proper initialization of the drive - OR - it gives a four digit code to give to their tech support to translate into what is the actual problem. At any rate, use the free software from the original equipment manufacturer whenever possible ...

Thanks for the opportunity to help.

Truth be told, bad sectors are a sign of imminent doom for the hard drive.

Even if a vendor's utility can "fix" it, are you really willing to rely on that drive. Most wouldn't.

Best if you opt for a new drive.

Good luck.

MaxBlast is the disk management utility from Maxtor. If you have a Western Digital drive, you will want to use the EZ-Drive utility from Western Digital. But in any event, if you are getting errors running a low-level format, your best option is to replace the drive. This one has seen its better days.
