Media player 9 series

By chandrak ·
I have a laptop that has Windows 2000 with all the updates. Whenever try to install media player 9 series it gives me error Uxtheme.dll not found. Did a search on the local drive and this file is in C:\winnt\system32 directory. On the same exact laptop with same configuration it works fine. Any time I try to view video using the media player I can hear audio not video is seen. I have tried to install and uninstall with no luck. Can anyone please help to fix this problem.

Thanks

The file has become corrupt, and their is no clear explanation as to fix file other than to rplace the old file w/a new file, which will be on the OS disk

Go to http://www.divx.com/divx/play/download/ to get the divx player with the codec files. Be sure to select the "DivX Play Bundle only (Windows 2K/XP)" option. When installing I think there is another place to check to only install the player and the divx codecs.

That might fix the video problem in media player. If not you should still be able to view it in the divx player. Hope it works

Hi

The codec answer is a good answer. You can also run

afc /scannow

from a Run prompt and get the system file checker to replace any corrupt files. You will be asked for your installation CD when you do this.

Good luck

it should be sfc and not afc:

sfc /scannow

I ran sfc and did uninstall and install media player. Now I get error 8007000D when installing from the website.
