memory counting intermittently

By debwah ·
my computer bios reports memory count most of the time, but then sometimes does not. it does show that i have dual channel memory (or single channel if I remove one), but doesn't always count the memory.

What would cause this? Is it a sign of a bad motherboard?

Pay attention to what is happening when the system does and does not count up (test) your RAM.

Typically, the BIOS will run the RAM test from a cold start. But will not count the RAM on a restart.

The primary exception is when you have been in BIOS setup. The BIOS handles exiting setup the same way as a cold start.

If this post is related to your previous one http://tinyurl.com/qmga5, the cause is pointing to the motherboard.

That's kind of what I was wondering. New events on the old post. I'll go back to that one.

Thanks
