Memory Slot detection

By jason_beery ·
Are there any programs that will recognize memory slots available and slots used? Example: If I have a machine with 2 32mb dimms in a compaq deskpro mmx, and 1 slot is not being used. is there a utility I can run that will get the information? (total slots, total chips, size of each chip). I tried Track-It and Blue Ocean, neither of these programs worked, they only show how much total memory is installed.

Yes I use System Manager from Spacewalker ver. 1.0 release 8 for win9x/nt
It does much more (eg. memory info)
memory module: socket,bank connection,speed,size/type
memory controller: error detecting method, interleave, best speed, max module sizecache: mode, socketed, level, install size, type designation

http://www.spacewalker.com

works with lots of motherboards, but not all

Jason,

You've said the crucial words Compaq. Take a very good look at Compaq insight manager. This can be used not only to monitor servers, but workstations and laptops as well.

I have not looked at the workstation agents, but would recommend you give this a look. I think this may give you the level of detail you desire.

Regards - Joe
