Merging .dbx and .doc files into Access

By Nukem777 ·
I am trying to merge a large address book, over 12,000 entries, written in .dbx in Microsoft Works, with an agenda, written in .doc in Microsoft Word. I want to be able to create a daily agenda where I can import the address and phone info from the address book when and where I choose. Is this doable??? Have not figured it out so far. Tried converting the database to excel, but it will not let me have two files open at the same time.????

This is very doable... even if you don't already know how to do mail-merges in Microsoft Word.

First, you should convert the .DBX file to an .XLS, .MDB or other database format.

Next, select "Tools|Mail Merge" from the Word menu. This will launge the Mail Merge wizard.

Follow the instructions and you're good to go.

Having never worked with these programs before, how do I convert the .dbx file to .XLS or .MDB and does it matter which database format I use?
