MIME Standard

MIME stands for Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions and is used to send messages and attachments. Most e-mail programs use MIME.

The other standard is UUENCODE which is UNIX to UNIX and is used for text based systems run on UNIX.

Hope that this helps,
Don

MIME stands for "Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions". It is an email standard that allows binary content like images, binary document files, audio, video etc to be sent along with normal text messages. Binary data is normally sent as base64 coded.
