Mirroring of sites

If there is a mirror site existing then is that on each different servers it has to be uploaded physically or is there any process so that there is a synchronization of data accross all the servers simultaneously

Mirroring of sites

by Hasse MCSE/Brainbench In reply to Mirroring of sites

Hi!

No mirror sites dosen't synchronize data so all sites are updated simultaneously.

If they would do that the internet would die, due to lack of bandwith.

Instead mirror sites run a mirror script anything from once a day to once a month.
That's why sometimes you can't find the latest programs or patches at mirror sites.

Most of the larger site use some form of Content Replication Service (CRS). This type of service allows for content to be rolled out to multiple end points from a single, or from multiple staging servers.

One product that springs to mind (Only because I am using it right now) is Microsoft Site Server.

This type of roll out is usually spanned across a time window that usually takes into account time zones.
