    modem configuration proble for zoltrix F

    GOT ZOLTRIX FM-SFT56I INTERNAL MODEM TESTING NT 5 BETA 2, DOWN LOADED DRIVER FOR MODEM FROM ZOLTRIX SITE, NT DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE DEVICE AS PLUG AND PLAY, MANULAY SELECTED AND LOADED THE DRIVER , NT RECOGNIZES BUT RUNNING DIAG/REFERHING THE MODEM IT FAILS TO RESPOND, MODEM IS AUTOMARICLY ASSIGND COM2, UNABLE TO CHANGE COM ASSIGNMENT, MODEM DOES NOT HAVE JUMPERS FOR COM PORT.
    MODEM IS PLUG AND PLAY COMPATIBEL AND IS WORKING FINE IN WIN 98
    IN WIN 98 THE MODEM IS ASSIGNED COM3

      OK. You have to go to your CMOS Setup (during boot-up) and change your internal controller’s COM-port configuration. If your motherboard uses COM1 & COM2 at the same time, disable one of them (they usually share the same IRQ with COM3 & COM4). If your another PC with w98 detected sucessfully the modem in COM3, I would recomend you to disable COM1 (to release IRQ4). If you have mouse or another device attached to that port, you may try to change the port number instantly, e.g. from COM1 to COM2 or COM4 (some of the motherboards have that feature) or simply unplug the device, and replug to another port’s connector
