Modify DBAN

By howard48906 ·
I would like to modify the code so that it begins to wipe all drives on boot without further input.

Can anyone give me help on how to modify the code and burn a custom disk?

Post here or email me at howard48906@yahoo.com. Thanks

Bad practice posting it un-obfuscated on the net, really.

As to your question, the autonuke command does that. (Actually, any one of the eponymous commands will do it with the named method.)

You need to edit the syslinux.cfg file (read this file and quick.txt for hints). If you change the defaults for an ISO image (CD), you have to re-master the image before burning.

Suggestion: Edit your post to delete your email address, since sooner or later spambots will find your address if you leave it in the post.

Suggestion 2: If you still want to be reachable for other members, enable incoming peer messages in your TR profile.

Suggestion 3: Why don't you look at the dban forum?

For 1-2-3 right-thinking.

Think of it: if they all knew, what would you have to do?

You're right, as usual...

Sean beat me to it, probably because he:
a) didn't use 1, 2, 3
b) knows the topic better than I do
c) operates from a suitablier time zone (I just invented that word for you to enjoy!)

Lose the "i"

In, "suitabler", and I'm with you. It's more better than what I could have thought of, which amounts to, "more suitable"; which amounts to more letters. Which is why yours is more better.

1) I can't have beat you to it by much.
2) Good advices anyway.
3) Forum search is good, too. The pre-packaged documentation, people seem to miss.
4) What is this "time" of which you speak?

On second thought: Do you really need that?

by TobiF In reply to Modify DBAN

I think DBAN was designed this way on purpose, maybe even based on painful experience.

A totally autostarting disk can be VERY dangerous to have somewhere on your desk.

You will anyway need to physically slide in the CD or mount a USB stick and reboot the computer, possibly even alter the boot drive priority order, so why not spend another minute to let the computer boot, and then just tell the program what to do this time.

The rest is already automated.
