Motherboard Flash Bios(a big pain)

By T_Bone ·
I tried to flash my bios and now nothing will work. I can go to the bios and change settings, do what ever I want, but when it comes time to load, everything stops before it even gets to the floppy seek. I even installed a new bios and still had the same problem. Is there anything to do to recover this motherboard? I would greatly appreciate it.

Try to load the defaults. There may be a jumper you'll have to set to to clear the nvram also.

If that doesn't work, Flash it back to the old version. There should've been an option to do this with the flash utility. If you didn't do that, you can get one from another machine with the same board. I've had some flashed not work with certain boards, and I suspect that this may have happened to you

Good luck to you

My question stated that I had already tried a new bios and it didn't work. I also had stated that it locked before I had access to the floppy, therefor I am unable to reflash it with the original version. Thanks for the input.

Does not sound good, but you can find reference to your motherboard and reset the jumper settings, which is located near the cpu
Reference:Flash Bios Reeccovery Disk from firmware.com
hope this helps

My question had already stated that it locks up before I have access to the floppy therefor trying to reflash the original version is also not an option. The motherboard is also a jumperless board. I appreciate the try, but not helpfull.

Have you tried removing the battery for several minutes. Failing this, there should be a 3 pin jumper setting on the motherboard to reset the bios. When you said that you installed a new bios, did you replace the chip? also when you enter the biosdoes it allow you to setup default settings?. Lastly, what make and model motherboard is it?

you will have to reflash the bios using another machine. The only sure way to do it is on a motherboard of the same type. If you provide the make and model of your mainboard I may be able to flash it for you since I have a few dozen boards laying around. of course you would have to mail me the bios if we determine that I have a similar board in stock. my sympathy's -Doug (BizProz)
