Moving between cells in Excel

By DAN_HAMMOCK ·
When I use the arrows to move between cells it changes the view but the highlighted cell does not move. I have to use the mouse to select another cell.

Example: If I have cell 1A selected and press the down arrow the whole worksheet moves down like you moved the bar at the side and cell 2A is now in the upper left corner but the formula bar is still selected on cell 1A.

I have look under options but can't figure out which setting controls it.

Sounds as if the scroll-lock on your keyboard is on... Some portables don't even have a specific key for this, on mine for example it's a Fn+F11 combination. Anyway, switch off the Scroll Lock, and your cursor should move, not your view.

This worked. Sometimes it is the simple things we overlook. Thanks.

Make sure that Scroll Lock is turned off. It's the key, probably, to the right of the "F" keys at the top of the keyboard.

Alternatively use <enter> and <tab> to move around the worksheet.
