mozilla firefox hijack problems (i think )

By silverdoller ·
hi
ok how can i explain this!
my home page with firefox is google which is ok it is not compromised
and when I do a search I get my answers as normal.
That part is fine!!
However when I click on an individual search result from the google list, the link doesn't take me directly to my choice I keep getting re-routed to other search engines like 312.com. Not only does it re-route my click, but, it is a pig to get it back to the search results page (from google), I have to press the back button 5-10 times constantly to by-pass the routed page.
Once I click a search choice 3-4 times and get the re-routed page 3-4 times the browser eventually allows me
goes to the correct page without the re-route.
Has anyone got any ideas please as this is driving me crazy!!
thanks guys
I know you can help me as this site is amazing.

You have been infected with some form of malware . . .

Which is an 'all-encompassing' term for something that is not good.

What anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-malware, etc programs are you running to keep you protected? Not enough I imagine.

Try these:

AVG Anti-Virus
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/

AVG Anti-Spyware
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-free-anti-spyware/us/frt/0

AVG Anti-Rootkit
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-free-anti-rootkit/us/frt/0

Download each of these and install them all.

Shutdown and restart in Safe Mode.
Run each of the above in turn.
Shutdown and restart in normal mode.

Try your browser and post back if you have any further problems.

Afterthought . . .

Once you have all THREE installed, allow each of them to update by opening each and clicking on their respective 'Update' options.

If you are running presently with only the Windows firewall, you could probably do with the help of a third-party firewall. Download and install ZoneAlarm:

Good luck!

Don't forget to give Mycroft a thumb for being helpful. I think that he's collecting them- and it sounds as if he WAS helpful.

Having a second AV and scanners is a good thing. What one set doesn't catch, the second often will. Also, run a reg cleaner- I daresay you could use one. A good free registry cleaner is CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com). Run it repeatedly until it can find nothing else. Just make sure that you back up your registry. CCleaner will prompt you to do so.
