Does anyone have any comments on the Mozzilla Firefox browser. Is it better than Explorer and is there anything I should know about it.
Thanks in advance

Myself and a few other peers here at TR are using Firefox.

Positives:

The Mozilla group corrects flaws much quicker the Microsoft.

The Firefox download is under 5MB.

The built-in pop-up blocker is very effective.

I get much less ad-ware and spy-ware on a system with Firefox than 1 running IE.

Overall, I prefer Firefox to IE.

Negatives:
The layout and operation is different than IE.
It will take some getting used to.

No mail client.
You can either:
Keep Outlook Express;
Install the full Mozilla Browser;
Use a stand alone mail client such as Eudora, or Mozilla Thunderbird.

A few web pages do not render themselves properly on Firefox systems.

Both Windows Update, and the Zinio Magazine site do not function with Firefox or Mozilla.

Firefox add-ons:

I recommend that you check out www.mozdev.org
At a minimum, install Preferences Toolbar.
This lets you have check box access to user preference items without needed to slog through the menus every time you wish to change a setting.
I use this to clear cache, and to turn the pop-up blocker on and off quickly.

Click on Tools, Extensions.
Then, get more extensions.
Browse through the list and install any extensions you like.

Keep in mind, that you can not fully eliminate IE at this time.
Install Firefox and set it as your default browser so that you can give it a good test drive.
You can switch back to IE as and when needed.

TheChas says it all
I use all three - IE, Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla 1.7.3.
Each work great.
The only problem that I can think of is that when a Web designer design a web page for only IE ( like Microsoft site) IE works the best. Mozilla will have some problem on some pages.
When web deigner design for IE and Netscape, Mozilla should not have any problems with that page.

You have to decide which one works the best for you.

Important note, like all Microsoft products you must keep them up to date or have problems when you do need to use them

Have fun and Good Luck
